Rating My AG Collection: the Dolls of 2024

I can't believe I'm doing another one of these

Rating  My 2024 American Girl Doll Collection!

*I don't play favorites, I promise*

*I would also like to clearly state that I am extremely grateful for ALL the dolls in my collection*

#1

Com'on guys, you already know.

Take a guess.

It's so obvious

*cut*

Bonjour and welcome to or back to my absolutely chaotic blog that has no posting schedule... and... ya... it's great!  If I would actually SCHEDULE posts instead of just publishing them as soon as I finish them, we could have a schedule.  Do I do that?  Obviously not.

*I'm really sick rn guys, so the chaotic energy is coming off in weirder-than-normal ways*

Today, while this is probably going to take me hours to type and y'all fifteen minutes to read, we're going to go more in depth about the AG dolls I've acquired over 2024!

Disclaimers:

  • We're not rating Morningstar or Annalise, due to the fact I'm in the process of customization updates for Annalise and Morningstar is a 2025 doll
  • My Tenney doll, which needs to be reshipped (from the other side of the country. Literally) currently hasn't been reshipped yet, is technically, what I'm going to call MIA and lost in post.*  I'm waiting.  "Patiently"  I swear, by the time she gets here, it'll be my birthday.  I ordered her in December y'all.

Now that we've addressed that.

Let's get into it! *I'm great at transitions in academic papers... uhm... in novels I can just slap a "Chapter ___" but I am still learning how to do transitions here.... it's fine, it's all fine, it's great.*

#1 Constance Ivory Fallon

(predictable, right?)

I mean, look at her.  What's not to love?

She was a Christmas present from my parents, which was completely unexpected...  so I was in absolute awe and... ya I just adore her.  She is one of my few dolls with a coquette/mythical aesthetic, (I myself am an eclectic maximalist down to the core, but I am DEFINITELY growing a soft spot for my coquette girlies.)

In the novels she's best friends with Dalia, really quiet, and loves flower gardening, because doesn't that just make sense?  "Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey is SUCH a Constance vibe.  When I first heard that song I had it on repeat for at least two days straight.  Completely just... embodies her soul.

#2 Cielo St. John

Let's face it.  Cielo would NEVER forgive me if I didn't rank her up here.  If she asks, tell her she's #1, uhmmm.... the only reason I rank Constance higher is because I find her more visually aesthetic.  Cielo is Cori's little sister, and I am just SO in love with her personality...  I genuinely think that at this point Cielo is just going to become the face of my blog.  All my post ideas are just so heavily centered around her.  Uhm! I wiped away her tattoo yesterday... that was fun while it lasted.

Honestly, she's the only doll I have from the book she's in...

Then again, I have five work in progress books rn (I've privately published one already) and all my books stand alone but characters intermingle... so like for example, Constance and Dalia are characters from a fantasy world that Cielo's friend's mom made up and Cielo isn't mentioned in Adam's book at all, but she knows him through a friend and he pops up in her novel... (does that make sense?) All my novels are stand alones but could also technically be considered a series because I just go through the different generations or give side character's their own books with a completely new plot... does any of that make sense?  I'm rambling, don't ever try and get inside the mind of a writer.  My search history isn't pretty.

Anyway!  Cielo!  We LOVE her.

I chose this picture because it probably gives the best view of her necklace.  One thing I LOVE to do (although it's always unintentional) is I'll give my dolls signature pieces.  Like that cross necklace Caspian has, I haven't taken that off him in over two years.  Well I just bought this necklace and I was like "oh, I can use it for this photo story" Uhm.  It is Cielo's necklace now.  I'm still trying to decide if there's sentiment or Cielo just likes it to like it, but in ANY future pictures I take of her, I can guarantee you, she will be in that necklace.  It is officially her signature piece.

#3

This is a coin toss.
Uhm.
From a photography standpoint?  I will tell you Fatima.  Because I LOVE how photogenic she looks on camera... but... just looking at her, and the way her unstyled hair falls in her face.... as the doll herself, she's without doubt one of my least favorites.
If I'm looking at photos I've already taken of her?  LOVE her.
If I'm looking at her?  Huge no.
Although.  I love Toucan (her crochet frog).  I like to say that Toucan is from Tuvalu (real place, I learned about it in college last year).

So the other contender for #3 is Magnolia.
She's very similar personality-wise to Cielo (which, obviously, I LOVE), but I really struggle to take good pictures of her.  Love the doll, not the photos.

HOWEVER.

I do LOVE the fact that she's been sitting in Kirsten's meet dress for the last month.  It looks SO good on her (in my opinion, although I don't know how Kirsten fans will feel about the fact that I folded and cropped it into a t-shirt.... sorry not sorry!)

#4 Dalia Priti Sharma

Uhm... I'm not gonna lie, I'm a LITTLE surprised by this... although I recently redid her eyebrows and eyelashes, and I definitely like that a LOT better.
I made her eyebrows really bushy initially... and they just kinda looked like blobs and that really bothered me, so I figured I'd thin them out a bit.  Then I realized they were so bushy because I'd been too lazy to take the AG paint off, so I was just rollin' with the outline.  Classic me.

I'm not going to lie, her doll personality is a LOT different from her book personality (lol) and I genuinely love her chaotic energy in the doll personality.  Book perspective, she's definitely a bit more uptight.

I LOVE the songs I have for her personality though, and I don't expect y'all to listen to rap (I have an obsession with NF, he is my all-time favorite artist, I LOVE that man, the respect is just insane).  But!  Rap is definitely embodies her music-wise, which I find funny because it always seems off character to me.
Returns by NF captures her the best, it's a nice summary and the closest I can get to describing her.  It kinda captures that chaotic energy but it also highlights her insane resilience, and then BAND4BAND by Central Cee because let's face it, the song kinda gives me material girl vibes which... to a sense she definitely is.

#5 (aka my second favorite number) Indigo Frida Montoya

I LOVE Princess Bride, MAYBE you'll get my very very subtle reference... Inigo, Indigo... it's close.
When I bought her I initially wanted to make a Frida Kahlo doll, which... I don't really have any particular opinions about Frida or anything, I did a BRIEF Spanish unit on her, but I have a friend who loves her, and I just thought the repaint idea would be fun.  So... I can tell you really nothing about her, I'd like to clear that up.
I'm actually planning on touching up her repaint a bit.
I struggle with her hair, I need to braid it again, uhm... I think maybe that's part of the reason I don't LOVE her, literally just because her long hair gets all frizzy sitting on my shelves LOL

I would also love her more if I knew WHAT her personality was.  She is a blank slate and that BOTHERS the heck out of me.
I literally almost did a post with Cielo trying to help her find a personality, like I'm seriously struggling here.
I might tap into the Frida genes and do a painter... but then that just reminds me of the terribly dire state my Saige doll is in.

Uhm... the other doll of mine that doesn't really have a personality is Fatima... but Fatima has enough of one to where I manage.  Fatima loves crochet, coffee, and poker.  I think I've mentioned this before, but I bought Fatima at a flea market for $60, she came with a trunk, and an array of Pleasant Company clothes, including Kaya's Jingle Dress of Today (they really could've been more creative) which I think is cool!

#6 Olive Mercury

I initially wasn't going to include her, because I currently have some strong grievances against the doll and repaint... but I'll figure those out eventually.
Uhm... but I am OBSESSED with Olive's vibe.  She loves the woods and the rain and taking naps and is lazy on a completely different level which I admire about her.
Her favorite color is all shades of green, and her quote is "the grass is a vivd green, and I want to take a nap".
I suppose... it's like 100 Acre Woods and a Haunted Woods all at the same time, paired with jellycat and overgrown ivy and a steaming cup of cinnamon apple tea in a frostbitten wood windowsill.  It's a vibe. A very specific vibe.  But a very Olive vibe.  One that makes me LOVE her.  I genuinely feel like she would talk to animals, you know?

And that sums up my 2024 AG collection additions!
Thanks for reading!

  1. I adore Constance so much, so I am backing her as your #1 100%. But I'm also a huge Marie-Grace girlie, so is it any surprise? For me, the song I associate with my Marie-Grace is "Francesca" by Hozier... "I'd tell them put me back in it"?? I dunno, maybe that lyric just represents how I feel about my childhood.
My Josefina honestly has no personality either. I'm pretty sure I have a whole personality brainstorm for her in my AG notebook... none of it has stuck. I so see your vision with Frida Kahlo vibes though.
Omg also I had a dream that you finally got Tenney. I don't remember much about the dream, but I went on Pinterest at some point in it and you had posted pictures of her. I think it was a Little House on the Prairie photoshoot (I have NO CLUE how my brain came up with that). I also remember being in the middle of the woods and maybe an abandoned gothic castle in the dream?? Yeah I dunno, my dreams are really weird (and vivid.... and frequent).

    1. Is it bad that I know EXACTLY what Tenney little house on the prairie photoshoot you’re thinking of? It’s by 5hens I’m pretty sure. If only my Tenney would get here 😭 I have so many plans. But when I say she’s MIA, I mean that.
Francesca is a Constance vibe for me too (yes I had to relisten to it) but once you get to the chorus it’s too…. Upbeat for her? She’s definitely that slow very mellow vibe to me. Arsonist's Lullaby though…. Now THAT is a Constance song (and my personal favorite Hozier song, don't... read too deep into that) I’ve been thinking ab doing a post where I talk about Hozier songs and how they fit different doll personalities in my collection, I feel maybe Cielo for Francesca? She fits the line “I tell you put me back in it” PERFECTLY. So. In other words. By the way I’m rambling I think I just need to turn this into a blog post.

    2. Yes that has to be where my brain got that idea, there's no other explanation. 😭 The only "good" thing about Tenney being lost in the mail is that she's pretty easy to get.
Okay, I am OBSESSED with that man's music, so I personally think you need to make that post asap.
