Losing my Mind over my OG Diner Reno Pt. 1

It's torture.

In the most "fulfilling" way

This was my... "it's finals week, let's start a doll reno project!" ingenious idea.

Losing my Mind over my OG Diner Reno Pt. 1

Hey guys!  So, the cherry tree in my yard is *finally* blossoming!  But... it's been pouring rain... (typical, right?) So I decided I would throw this together, and do a... I guess a dollhouse update?

As you can see, this is the Our Generation Retro Diner.  Which honestly, I really do love it, like the countertops and the music box and everything... but those colors??? Hahahaha no.  Not me.  I've been wanting to repaint it for years... and decided... this was the year to do it.  *I've been working on it for about a week, as you will see, progress is painfully slow*

So... I did something really shocking for me, and I actually went and did research about how to "properly" paint plastic.... and I actually took the effort to sand it down and properly clean it, which, proud of me for that!
And now obviously, if we're going to paint the diner... we need to paint the seats blue.

First coat!  Guess who forgot to tape off the sides of the chair??? Ya!  Me!  It's fine, we will fix it later.

This is actually starting to look cute!!!

Finished with the chairs!  And we are moving on to the floor.  Which... this floor gives me Monster High vibes in the worst way.

*lightly sanding, sanding, sanding*

Sooooooooooo.... Initally..... I was going to put down a wood floor.  But then.  Naturally.  I was too deeply inspired by my grandma's kitchen and couldn't fight the urge to paint black and white tiles.  So.  Instead of finding an easy alternative (like gee, idk printing a checker board), I decided to go and paint over each. and. every. square.  *dying on the inside*

it's actually looking kinda cute??? Idk, I have a love hate relationship with the tiles... one minute I like it and then I find it overpowering and ugly 😅
I just keep telling myself that once I put down a gloss finish... it'll look good(????) Maybe I'm just living in delusion.

This is how it looks right now!!! Hopefully... I'll have the floor finished and part 2 up before spring break is over 😅😂
I'm still trying to decide what to do about the chalkboard and back wall... I'm thinking of turning the chalkboard into a window... and then the other part of me is fighting the urge to paint my red OG kitchen baby pink to compliment the chairs.... decisions, decisions, decisions...

Oh, but you don't think the insanity ended there, did you?
Nope!
Obviously, you need doll food to go with the doll kitchen... so I'm back in my crafting doll food phase. (which, idk how I feel about that tbh...)

I am seriously obsessed with these cupcakes though!

idk how tacos and cupcakes go together... but I've painted these too

and my genius brain decided that I wanted to... instead of print... hand make a doll recipe book for Gracie.  So.  yay! 😭😂😑 these are the pages I have right now.... I'm using Crayola marker so many of the colors are off... but it's... okay... 😂

I'm supposed to be finishing my second novel y'all.  Not hand painting a hundred floor tiles.  But!  It's all gotta be worth it in the end, right??? I am beyond excited when the time finally comes to decorate this thing.  The process up to that point??? Tedious.  But.  Hopefully it'll be worth it!

I have too many doll projects going on atm... like I've honestly lost track of everything.

This post was weird... and not my best, but, as always,
Thanks for reading!
