Guys... I bought ANOTHER doll(?!!?!?!) ...

 



So. I have a mini rule for myself, that I won't pay more than $40 for an American Girl Doll... (I might have to make an exception for the AG Moana doll though because she is STUNNING) and well... I'll do a recap off all the dolls I've bought in the last six months, but I'd officially told myself I was done for the year... then this doll went on sale... 

The seller had her listed as Truly Me 69 (which she is obv not), but I'm about 99.9999999999% sure she's a Jess, which is amazing for me because buying a mislabeled Jess means she's cheaper!  Even if she's not authentic Jess, the 31 bucks I paid for a lookalike, I can't complain.  I've wanted Jess ever since little me was watching MixiePixie7 on youtube.  So.  She's one of my Christmas presents to myself this year (LOL).   



I'm renaming her Cielo (literally just pronounced Cello, but cooler) and I'm writing this part before I even have her (she's sitting in Colorado right now) so I'm hoping the restoration process goes smoothly... although after Indigo and Magnolia, she looks like she'll be the easiest.  




Okay! So! We have the doll. I’ve got my white coffee and my ABBA album playing… I think that maybe I just might need to make her aesthetic go along with the the Lay All Your Love on Me because that's coincidentally the song that was playing while I unboxed her.  I'm sure I'll update my "Made You a Playlist" board in a day or two.  

Anyway!

So.... uhm... ✨unboxing✨ and very politely, whoever packaged the doll, I have some questions... few concerns...  




Firstly!  They wrapped a BOX in brown paper?  Like I appreciate the aesthetic, but what does that do? Unless you just wanted me to unwrap it twice?  I'd consider it a "protective layer", except, the paper was so thin... totally not judging you, thank you for the doll!  

... anyway.  

Secondly.... Uhm... I don't think this is good for her legs.  But, what do I know.  Bonus points for creativity ig?  


Moving on!  


First off, I would like to say she is SO pretty!  And I honestly love her little snow dress.  Her face was flawless, she had a mark on her leg, but other than that, I... ya, this was my easiest restoration in years.  

HOWEVER.

We're going to side track and do a little history here.
I've been restoring dolls for.... ohhhhhhhh idk... fiveish years?  (although idk if I can say restoring because with the way my repaints turn out... most the time I genuinely feel like I'm just ruining the doll *another reason I buy dolls cheap as it lessens my guilt*).  
In my fiveish years... I've never REALLY dealt with dry hair.  The Molly head I just bought, her hair was insanely dry, but still usable. 
Uhm...

I don't think pictures really capture it, but her hair feels like SANDPAPER.  Which I'm kinda upset about because the seller (naturally) did not care to mention that.  
My mom was like "oh, just wash it!  It works for your other dolls!"  

Uhm... 
I mean.  Maybe it helped a little?  

The problem with washing it though, is it just looked gross when it was wet.  So.  I cut the super dry bits off... we'll see what her hair looks like when it's dry *haha, that killed me a little in the inside, I promise that wasn't a pun*  
I think I might just end up getting her a new wig.  (I swear, I've been having a trend of buying dolls with dry hair, and it gets worse each time.  First Magnolia, then Indigo, then my Molly head... praying this trend ends soon).  

However!  Other than that!  
She's perfect.
I'm in love.  
Just. 
The hair!!!! 

I feel like this post is just dragging on, so I'll do a part two... after Thanksgiving... maybe in an hour... maybe at midnight... who knows with me.

    Omg yes I have like 50 dolls and I told myself I was done, but Moana....
    *Ahem* Congrats on a new doll! The way she was packaged is criminal, but I guess you can't really expect someone who doesn't know much about AG Dolls to know the best ways to protect a doll during shipping? She's so pretty though, and I know she will be drop dead gorgeous once you repaint her. (Heck, I love my Jess molds and they're not repainted.) I agree that she's Jess.
    I have some tips for fixing dry doll hair if you want some! I think her hair could be salvageable, maybe try a hot water dunk?
    And yes omg a post going in depth on Caspain's tattoos would be SO neat.

      Thank you! What makes me laugh about the way she was packaged was the seller claimed she was "in her original package" so... idk how that lines up. I've decided to keep her hair, it's not bothering me too much at the moment, but we will see how I feel about it in the future!
      And I will try and get a post about Cassie's tattoos up within the week!

Revisiting my Collecting Goals -- the blog isn't dead!

I was going to delete my blog, but I'm keeping it for archival purposes... and figured I could maybe possibly... post 😂.   Anyway! It's September 1st, and I figured we could touch on my "Collecting Goals" from earlier this year, and see how I've done! I have an "I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it" personality, which...
